Shabbat at the Theater! Lessons From Darrow 

Rabbi Kolby and Har Mishpacha member Sandy Brook have created a unique and memorable Shabbat – our first Shabbat Theater!

Sandy has enjoyed success in legal circles for his theatrical performances of “Darrow,” a play based upon Irving Stone’s Book, “Clarence Darrow for the Defense.”  He will perform vignettes from the play. Each vignette will be followed by a discussion moderated by Rabbi Kolby. The discussion will center upon issues that are a part of the play: racial equality, religious freedom, the rights of the poor, the death penalty and the teaching of evolution. Darrow’s most prominent case, The Scopes Trial, will be featured in Sandy’s performance.

Sandy‘s presentation brings to life the emotion, oratory skill, sense of humor and courtroom drama of “Darrow.” Rabbi Kolby’s historical and spiritual insight of the social issues confronted by Darrow’s courtroom work will guide us through an enlightening, fun and unique Shabbat experience.
